Every once in a while you come across a group of people who are committed to changing the lives of those less fortunate than themselves. Very often these people are the unsung heroes of our day and age, the ones who quietly slog, work and toil to raise funds for people who without their help would be on their knees in dire circumstances.
We all know someone in our community who has done something to help others, sometimes they have been the one’s to help us. The thing is that sometimes our thanks is just not enough. Sometimes we need to go the extra mile to help out.
At African Connexions, we have quickly realised that while we can do great things to bring the African community here in the UK together, and promote social integration, it is also partly our responsibility to shout to the world about the work that is being undertaken by charitable organisations here in the UK on behalf of our brothers and sisters back home.
There are so many charities that support children, the aged, health initiatives and so many more, that very often we don’t get to hear about them or know what they are doing in our name here in the UK. So whenever we can, and whenever an organisation gets a hold of us and asks for our help, we’ll do whatever we can to help them out.
Today we are going to shout out about a fantastic opportunity that a South African charity called SOS Africa have launched here in the UK. SOS Africa is a charity formed to help underprivileged children in South African townships get an education, and as we all know the World Cup kicks off in South Africa in a few months time, SOS Africa have teamed up with Subside Sports to promote African Team Sports Shirts with SOS Africa’s logo on them. Every one sold between now and the world cup will contribute £5 towards the efforts of SOS Africa, a worthy cause , making a massive impact on children’s lives in South Africa.
So when you are thinking about buying your world cup shirt, stop and visit their website and instead of getting a copy cat cheap imitation, spend an extra bit and support a child who’s got less than you.
